Нынешние прайс-кепы могут стать барьером при импорте электроэнергии из ЕС – эксперт

Limiting prices on the electricity market can become serious barriers for importing electricity from Europe. This was stated by the head of the board of the Ukrainian Association of Renewable Energy, Stanislav Ignatiev, on the Ukrainian TV channel «Pravda».

According to Ignatiev, Ukraine has a great potential for renewable energy development, but it is facing challenges in terms of importing electricity due to the high prices set by European countries. He emphasized that these prices are significantly higher than the cost of electricity produced in Ukraine.

The main reason for the high prices, according to Ignatiev, is the lack of competition in the European energy market. He explained that the market is dominated by a few large companies, which have the power to set prices at their own discretion. As a result, smaller countries like Ukraine, which rely on imported electricity, have to pay inflated prices.

This situation not only affects the economy of Ukraine, but also hinders its efforts to transition to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sector. Ignatiev believes that the high prices on the electricity market are a major obstacle for the development of renewable energy in Ukraine. The country has great potential for wind and solar energy, but the current prices make it difficult for renewable energy projects to be financially viable.

To address this issue, Ignatiev suggests implementing a transparent and competitive market for electricity in Europe. This would allow for fair pricing and more opportunities for smaller countries like Ukraine to import affordable electricity. He also stressed the importance of diversifying energy sources and reducing dependence on imported electricity.

Despite the challenges, Ignatiev remains optimistic about the future of renewable energy in Ukraine. He believes that with the right policies and support from the government, the country can overcome the barriers and become a leader in renewable energy production in the region.

The Ukrainian Association of Renewable Energy is actively working with the government and other stakeholders to promote renewable energy development in the country. They are advocating for policies that will create a more favorable environment for investments in renewable energy and reduce barriers for importing affordable electricity.

In conclusion, the high prices on the European electricity market pose serious challenges for importing electricity to Ukraine and hinder the country’s efforts to transition to renewable energy sources. However, with the right policies and support, Ukraine can overcome these barriers and tap into its potential for renewable energy development. It is crucial for the government to address this issue and create a more competitive and transparent market for electricity, which will benefit not only Ukraine, but also the entire region in terms of sustainable and affordable energy.
